Causes of flat foot
Inadequate footwear and moving on a flat surface, (concrete) thus not activating the muscles which causes their weakening and loosening. Together with muscles, the ligaments become weak and loose also.
When thus weakened, they cannot endure the pressure of the body weight which results in dropping down of the foot vaults. Foot prints from flat to vaulted are given on graph 6, marked A to D.
Consequences
- First of all, the foot itself is deformed;
- In order to keep the balance while in the standing position, the lower leg muscles are also activated which causes pain;
- The pressure projection of the body weight moves backwards towards heels which is compensated by moving the hips forward thus causing pain in the lower back area;
- Dropping down of the vault, especially the longitudinal one, causes "sinking" of the foot (treading on the inside part of the sole) which is clearly visible from the back and is manifested by evident distortion of the Achilles tendon. The ankle suffers uneven pressure which is in compensation transmitted to the knee, hip and the spinal column.
