Indolence
There is an old saying ‘’ Youth knows no consequences’’, to make it sound even worse, many older people feel young. Both the young and the old start their training without warming-up.
WHAT IS WARMING-UP
Warming-up is the activity of preparing the body with the aim of raising efficiency and eliminating the possibilities of unnecessary injuries.
As clear as it gets, warming-up exists to enhance the efficiency by raising the temperature of muscles and blood. The obvious index of the raised temperature is seating.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO RAISE THE TEMPERATURE?
- to securet the decreased muscular viscosity which decreases the energy expenditure on managing inner pressures,
- to increase the velocity of contractions and muscle relaxation,
- to provide blood running through muscles entirely. Flow rate in the passive muscle is 4-7 ml on 100 grams of muscles, and in the active muscle flow rate might increase to 50-70 ml on 100 grams of muscles. Blood running of the muscular system increases its elasticity and decreases risk of trauma.
- metabolic processes are increased,
- lung pressure is increased by 13%,
- static stretching without raising the temperature such as sweating does not contribute to the enhancement of efficiency, but it decreases the possibility of injuries,
- combining stretching exercises and raising the temperature /of both muscles and blood/ elasticity of muscles, ligaments, joints is increased which leads to the probability of injuries being decreased and level of efficiency increased,
- warming-up is especially important for strength exercises with respect to efficiency and decreasing injuries.
Overvaluing your own abilities
It is a frequent case that you exaggerate training concerning intensity and extensity. The person who is exercising is carried away by the idea that he might lift up 110 kilograms or jump in water from a higher cliff or to make his training longer for another hour. Anyhow, it is a bad decision, and the body is fighting exaggeration with injuries, as strange as it sounded.
