ADVICE FOR SENIORS
Spine functionality is a developing process. It is not a given. It is not enough to practice sports when you are young and completely neglect them when you're older. It is worse to neglect excercise in your youth.
During a long period of inactivity, degenerative processes, weakening of the muscles, and disruption of the body may occur. Excessive exertion or sudden incorrect movements may lead to pain in the back.
Chronic back pain may be caused by discs that have become thinner over time. The pressure extends to the facet joints which may cause pain.
It's important to exercise systematically to avoid this.
People often use alternative medicine also known as ‘’bonebreakers’’ (does not refer to chiropractors). The truth is that they can help if you have well-preserved discs, but suffer from back aches. A technique known as ‘’skin picking‘’ may help since the problem may be in the facet joints. They may fall out of place and press on the surrounding tissue.
However, the patient cannot know whether he has a problem with his disc or facet joint. If the disc is impaired, applying such a therapy may be tragic. The danger lies in that the prolapsed disc presses on the nerve tissue. If that injury is treated by ‘’random skin picking’’, the problem may only become worse.
If the pain goes through the leg, by no means, use alternative medicine.
The safest way to confirm the type of injury you have is to consult a doctor.
To save your spine:
- it is necessary to find the optimal value between capabilities of your body and various forms of exercise.
- it is necessary to know what, how, and why to exercise. If you do not know ask the people who know.
- it is necessary to evaluate your capabilities and exercise in moderation.
- It is necessary to work out systematically, at least three times a week.
- In case of injury, see a specialist.
Once you've received medical treatment and the pain has subsided, you can save your spine by exercising. However, keep the medical tips given in mind. Such medical exercises are intentionally left out since they should be practiced only under medical supervision.
It's interesting to know that if exercise caused a problem, it will also fix it.
